Dan Lane earned an Applied Science degree and FAA A&P License in 1991. He then began his career at Aero Center Epps Atlanta, formerly Epps Aviation, in 1992. Dan started in the piston shop as a mechanic and worked his way to piston shop crew chief by 1997. Dan received his FAA Inspection Authorization in 1998 and subsequently moved to the turbine shop in 1999, to be a crew chief for the Epps operated, fleet of Mitsubishi MU-2s.
In late 2000, Dan was appointed as the Chief Inspector and FAA Accountable Manager. Dan continued his studies in the aircraft nondestructive testing field, and in 2003, earned an ASNT NDT Level III Certificate from the American Society of Nondestructive Testing; which he maintains current today. Dan continued to expand on his certifications and became a Designated Airworthiness Representative on behalf of the FAA in 2007. With this FAA DAR-T designation, Dan can import and export aircraft, issue Airworthiness Certificates and many other aircraft certification functions.
During the 19 years as Chief Inspector, Dan authored the Epps Repair Station, Quality Control, Maintenance Procedures, Nondestructive Testing, Calibration, and Safety Manuals for Epps. Dan also created and managed the NDT and Calibration Departments through 2019. Since June 2019, Dan has served as the Service Center Director overseeing more than 85+ personnel. Dan still serves as the FAA Accountable Manager and Primary NDT Level III. With the acquisition of Epps Aviation, Dan now oversees a team of more than 100 personnel within Aero Centers’ growing portfolio of maintenance operations.
